After the war, Peeta Mellark is left scarred, hijacked, and broken. After many weeks of rehabilitation, he is finally allowed to return home to District 12. But there is nothing left except a girl he was programmed to hate. He tries to overcome those feelings of fake hatred as he starts to care for her again as much as he once did before.

Katniss Everdeen is alone. Everything she'd fought for had turned out to be nothing in the end. She's haunted by the terrifying events of the past and the ghosts of the people who'd brutally died for her. When on the verge of giving up, she finds herself seeking comfort in the boy she once hated, loved, then lost. Her confused but strong feelings are revisited when she finds herself as the nightmare of the only person who can make her feel safe.
