Natalia is the daughter of Winston Critley, the president (more like dictator) of a now totalitarian United States. Zander is an escaped government prisoner who longs for revenge on Critley for the murder of his parents and sister, and has a rebel army ready to take down the government. Their lives are so very different, but their worlds collide when Zander and a few of his followers attempt to assassinate Critley but end up kidnapping Natalia and holding her for ransom. But Critley refuses to bargain with the rebels to free his daughter. Natalia is left alone to deal with her captors, but she knows a thing or two on escaping after all this wasn't her first time getting abducted. Then she comes face-to-face with Zander and knows she's met her match. He of course had a history of his own and he knew hers. A whole year-and-a-half Natalia was held in rebel territory and though their suppose to be enemies, captor and captive become something so much more. Then she's released and all rebel activity stops. No one could explain why Natalia was released or why the rebels went into hiding, but the fight was not yet over. It will be another two years before Natalia and Zander meet again. But a lot has happened in just two years. The stakes are higher and Natalia now has a secret that could change the course of an entire revolution.
