It's easy to have Deaf pride when you live in a town where most people sign. Once out, it's a lot harder. Anja has never had trouble voicing her options without learning spoken English even though it's landed her in hot water more than once. In a new town, it's hard to keep the strength in herself high. Of course, she's not the only one questioning herself.

The Sound of a Siren's Call

74 parts Complete

When Arriana was born Deaf, it solved more problems than it caused. Unable to hear the call of the sirens who raised her, she never saw a problem. With her father's pirates all fluent in sign, she only ever felt the split of the underwater world of her mother and the pirating one of her father. With a heroic act and a show of defiance, Arriana finds a world she's not ready for. And a world that's not ready for her. Anything can happen. ~Completed, pending edits~ ***Finalist in Fantasy's EveryDayInMay fantasy worldbuilding contest*** #1 in lgbt and girlxgirl 7/7/2021 - 7/16/2021
