The Blue Fairy Book was the first volume in the series and so it contains some of the best known tales, taken from a variety of sources: not only from Grimm, but exciting adventures by Charles Perrault and Madame D'Aulnoy, the Arabian Nights, and other stories from popular traditions. Here in one attractive paperbound volume - with enlarged print - are Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltzkin, Beauty and the Beast, Hansel and Gretel, Puss in Boots, Trusty John, Jack and the Giantkiller, Goldilocks, and many other favorites that have become an indispensable part of our culture heritage.
All in all, this collection contains 37 stories, all arranged in the clear, lively prose for which Lang was famous. Not only are Lang's generally conceded to be the best English versions of standard stories, his collections are the richest and widest in range. His postion as one of England's foremost folklorists as well as his firt-rate literary abilities makes his collection unfathomable in the English language.

I have both a Randomhouse Book that has original stories in it. And I have a giant book of the Brothers' Grimm stories as well. I will never publish this story in any stores in the public. It is a private project built on building up educational knowledge and offers effective reviews of some stories of old and several comparisons of other stories. All story rights go to their physically original makers. I just decided to make a personal index for me to write out my opinion and not have to lug around so many storybooks while not at home. 'This is a private book and not intended to take credit for other people's work.' It is a pure educational reference opportunity for those who cannot afford to read about fairytales some of which are rarely discussed and you will see details from some of these stories appear in my crossover fan-fictions which you can look up and check right here and in its sequel. "A House of Pomegranates" is a collection of fairy tales. "The Young King" tells the story of the illegitimate shepherd son of the recently dead king's daughter of an unnamed country. Being his only heir, he is brought to the palace to await his accession. "The Birthday of the Infanta" is about a hunchbacked dwarf, found in the woods by courtiers of the King of Spain. The hunchback's father sells him to the palace for the amusement of the king's daughter, the Infanta, on her twelfth birthday. In "The Fisherman and his Soul," a young Fisherman finds a Mermaid and wants nothing more than to marry her, but he cannot, for one cannot live underwater if one has a soul. "The Star-Child" is the story of an infant boy found abandoned in the woods by a poor woodcutter, who pities him and takes him in.
