How ever had the great city of Metropolis come to this day, the world may never fully know. The city's tall, gleaming skyscrapers had once dared to reach out to the heavens, yet now they lie in ruins. The once magnificent city had acted as a beacon of hope, justice and truth. Yet, before the eyes of its very citizens, the city had been reduced to rubble and ash. With their savior nowhere to be seen, the people of Metropolis had no choice but to flee as that danger grew ever more ferocious. Their screams had echoed throughout the city. Some would look up to the sky and call out his name. "Save us," they said, "save us". Yet, he did not arrive. A rather inhuman roar had claimed the city for its own, following it had been cracks that began to form in the ground as the hulk of a beast tore its way through the city. A beats so suitably dubbed Doomsday. With a terrible roar, the creature scooped up an empty school bus and randomly tossed aside, not caring as to how many lives he had brough

They're gone, and I'm the one still standing. The last Bat. The idea of that used to fill me with pride. Back when I thought this legacy-this insane, cursed mission-was worth fighting for.
