All her life Ara had been cursed with the inability to sleep, to dream; living her life out as a permanent insomniac. Day in day out, her daily routine would be the same, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing new. That is, until two strangers manage to break into her room one night without a sound. It was as if that was the start of it all: a marriage to someone she hated, family feuds and complications she found herself tangled in, as well as a bloody journey to put the rightful heir on the throne. Sword still in her hands, she stomped her foot again. "Why are you smiling?" Brainwashed? Check. Sheltered? Check. Lost and alone? Check and, uh, check. That about summed Megan up. Banished from the heavens-kicked out-same thing-everyone thought for sure that this was it for her. Of course, no one had taken the demon King into account. He shrugged. "Because I'm happy." "Why?" She asked. "Because I find you endearing." "Why?" Desperate? Damn straight. Loved up? Beyond recognition. Prepared to rip anybody and everybody's throat out at any given moment for looking at her wrong? Absolutely. Claudio had waited far too long for his mate. Nothing was getting in the way of their forever. Not life. Not death. Certainly not a war that she'd be heading. "Because I've waited a long time for this. I'm going to explain to you what it means to be a... mate."
