In a closed system, entropy can only increase. That is true of everything. From the smallest cells to the largest galaxies to the universe as a whole.
That's why it went downhill so fast. That's why YHWH (God/Chuck) must weep. He gave them the choice, and they descended into chaos.
And He is fixing it. Slowly but surely He rounds up his suffering children and gathers them at the safe haven He's been preparing for a millennium. Eventually then will have peace, but peace takes hard work - even for an omnipotent being, it takes time.

The Curse of the Broken Shrinking God
How can the two opposing forces survive when they both want to be the dragon? How much will one have to shrink in size before the curse is finally broken? The Dark One is so happy to be rid of the darkness he had constantly battled for a timeless eternity. But he must face the consequence of his actions facing his darkness head on. In part one God the dragon is as big as the universe put together, but us he begins to separate himself, his imagas turn against him. Both HaShem and Samael feel it is their destiny to unite the dragon once more. This leads to a battle the result of which the children of God become more and more broken and scattered in their thought. Once they were planets now they are ants. How small will they have to go before the dragon is whole again and God is once more the seven headed dragon? Each book faces another price that is paid in yet another fall of his images in the curse of the broken shrinking God. Part II: HaShem enjoys the love of his Father and finds love for his sister. She is belittled by her other brother yet HaShem wants to defend her. He finds he is willing to give up everything to see others share in that same simple love. Part III: Iniquity is complete; the resurrection takes place; creation is complete. This book is a Truthfiction or Midrash rendering of the creation week. Even the idea that one single choice would be affecting the lives of billions was mind boggling. Let us have a closer look at the effects of this choice in two specific entities. Beleth, governor of the Infernal Realm, who wished for nothing but calm, peace and maybe a little chaos here and there. And Rumion, the Watcher, torn between keeping his life as stable as it is and the overwhelming urge to reconnect with his long lost (?) brother. _________________________________________ Three more or less one-shots. The original idea for this belongs to MisteryMaiden on ao3 and their series "And it all comes crashing down". It's incredible and I highly recommend it.
