17 year old Halsey is special, to say the least. But she is also like everyone else. Especially since the country was ravaged by the epidemic. Most of the adults are gone, typical, and Halsey is left alone with her 15 year old sister Aspen. The United States has been destroyed by the epidemic, leaving a dwindling population. But trust me, it's worse everywhere else. So the United States has now released a new regulation which instates that all minors ages 16 and older must be paired immediately with a formidable mate and must reproduce within a year, or lose their US citizenship and be deported outside the country, which in these days, means certain death. But what makes Halsey so special? Even she couldn't tell you, she can't tell anyone. She has never spoken a word. Not a soul around the mute girl knows that she's psychic. Well, everyone except the South Korean exchange student who can read her mind as well and just might drive her out of it.
