I'm just your ordinary eighth grade boy, living in your ordinary city. I have ordinary parents, an ordinary pet, and, well, just your ordinary everyday life. Everyone thinks our lives are normal, but they're not. Not even a little. I'm the only one who knows. I don't know why, but somebody chose me to know that our society is trapped in, and run by an evil computerized woman, who wants power. It's up to me to take that power from her, but I don't see how I'm supposed to do that.

"If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.

I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking. It hurt to do anything right now. But I still screamed under the cold water and pushed the hands away as hard as I could. It didn't have much effect. My hair was straight above me along with my arms. My eyes were open and the water burned. A darkness started to pull me under, taking the pain away.
