After facing disastrous consequences from her decision to rescue the children from Stillens' manor with only her friends, Astra Lestrange decides she's done letting people die for her. She and James Potter disappear, hoping to find Wren Predatel and keep the rest of their friends safe. They soon come to realize that avoiding danger, to themselves or others, may be harder than they thought.

As Astra and James traverse the countryside, Wren is dealing with her own personal hell. Her uncle does not like being crossed, and she knows it's only a matter of time until she breaks.
