In this world, the rich rule with an iron fist. Peasants or lowly men are considered worms under their feet. To a boy like Icarus, a name in the capital is what he needs to help his family. He enlists in the army but as a young boy who has just turned 16, is he ready for actual combat? He'll have to deal with the great dangers of the wilderness, assassins from other lands, and the army of rival states. He'll have to be deadly, swift, and steady. He'll have to survive, or his own life will be taken away from him, and that illusion of safety will be gone forever.

A boy grows in a small village, chained with witchcraft, poverty and alcohol. Somehow he manages to get out of the village to attend far away schools in the city where his life completely changes as he utilizes his newfound freedom. This is followed by several tribulations, conquering each of them, drowning in some and even attempting suicide. In college he's inscripted into the special branch where he becomes a cold killer who cleans the government mess. His story is that of denial, struggle with identity, lack of personal freedom and misery. It radiates several lessons and reveals how a person can be totally different from what others know about him. He knows that his end is near and that he has to find ways to emancipate himself, because knowing much can get you killed. Have a wonderful read.
