Cassandra Gilligan is having the worst Counterparts Day of all time: Her CP, the person meant to mentor her through the horribleness that is adolescence, is missing. Instead of getting a file and a field trip to go visit her CP, Cassie is handcuffed and dragged away by a woman in black. The test that each twelve-year-old takes is supposed to pair them with someone who can help them grow, but something else happened when Cassie took hers. The people who grabbed Cassie know something about her that even she doesn't, and she isn't about to let it stay that way.
