Valentine Morgenstern was a violent and dangerous man, the person who new that best was Clarissa Morgenstern, when Valentine got angry it was Clary who took the pain of her father's whip.
Jace Herondale had had two sets of parents after his own had died, Stephen and Céline Herondale. The first were Valentine and Jocelyn Morgenstern, they had a daughter called Clary, and then Robert and Maryse Lightwood, he was still in their care.
Their lives changed forever when Clary and her father moved to the New York Institute where Jace lived, can they get over their past and move on despite the problems their parents had caused?
