Day 1 Chicago,Illinois December 15
I found this journel a few weeks ago, before all the madness. I am hoping that if I don’t make it someone will find it and hopefully get some use out of it. It also helps me pass the time between the silence and the chaos of what now I call my life. It has been 57 days since the dead came back to life and started taking over our city. No one knows what caused this outbreak, some say it’s a virus or a nuclear attack by the government. Although some of us do not show signs of infection we’ve all been infected.
I find shelter where I can but most are infested with the dead. I spend most days looking for my son, Charlie. He and I were separated almost a month ago after a fight that broke out in the subway. It has been lonely without him and I will NOT stop until I find him. He is the sole reason why I keep fighting another day in a world that no longer has order. When I’m not searching for Charlie, I hunt for food looting local supermarkets or restaurants looking for non-perishable food items and of course water. Today I went in search of ammo and necessities and came across an abandoned neighborhood, it looked clear but I took my ax just to be safe. I don’t want to die now I’ve come so far and my son is counting on me.
I have returned to my “safe” house for the night. I’ve finished barricading the windows and doors with boards & interior doors for added security. The sun is going set soon and I need to rest before another day of scavenging. Hopefully you’ll hear again from me tomorrow………

Nor was he expecting to be sent away to another pack to be disciplined by the alpha. What will happen when he's 18 and realizes that the person who he's destined to be with is none other than the one person that he's decided to make his life hell? Will he reject him or accept him? Well, you'll just have to read to find out Lucas and Caleb are on for a wild ride as they learn to trust, love and accept their differences in a world where rogues and hunters are lurking in every corner. This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? The Wildfire Virus. That's the illness the eggheads have called dubbed that has spread alarmingly fast all over the world. No could figure out at first how and where it came from or how even spread so quickly. I was on leave, visiting brother in Boston when the infection hit. Yesterday, the world was normal with its own conflicts. The next, millions get sick, hospitals are overwhelmed, and any sort of space was converted into a makeshift hospital to handle all the sick. On day 2 the sick died and awoke attacking the living. I tried to get out of the city, but the military closed off every major access point and now I'm trapped within, along with millions of undead. Back by popular request! The 2017 rough draft of The Virus Within! (Caution: Contains massive plotholes that were fixed in the polished The Virus Within Series. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in.
