Book of Contests (2024)
To keep myself from losing track of: all the contests I've entered, all the contests I've volunteered myself as a judge (or let myself be voluntold into judging), all the books I've had to read as a contestant or as a judge, all the deadlines, and all the other important stuff, I've decided to create a book that registers all these things in a somewhat organized fashion. I can't remember who advised me to do that, but whoever you are, and there are probably several of you, thank you. I've been reading that it's extremely common for contests to be a bit sluggish with follow-up if a person wins a major prize and gets graphics and shout-outs, so I'll use this book to keep track of that, too. I had no idea so many people would be adding my personal convenience book to their own bookshelves, let alone voting for chapters - if my book of contests is useful to other people, that makes me happy. Very happy. However, I feel I must reiterate that although other people are welcome to browse my public contest logs and look for contests, look for information about details of contests (i.e. you want me to pour you some tea), etc, these contest logs are primarily for my own use. I enter so many contests that I can't keep track of them without a log. I forget important details, too, including things like "Note to self: You do not get along with this contest host, best not participate in their contests." This was never meant to be an "expose" book. I'm not exposing anybody. Contests are matters of public record, as are any comments made in the contest books. I'm just a ditz who needs a written log to keep track of everything. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my shoulders. SmackDown: Back to Our Roots
Our previous two SmackDowns were both massive successes, and it's high time for another. You might remember the last one was heavy on the "game" elements, maybe even too heavy. This time we're going back to the basics and keeping it simple. It's just a motherfuckin' sci-fi SmackDown: a heated writing contest where contestants are given text-, music- and visual-based prompts, and then they need to write a short story around that, following which they're judged for their efforts and either move on to the next round or they get eliminated from the competition. But there's gotta be some kind of twist, right? For this one we're waxing nostalgic, we're looking back into our past. We're going back to our roots.Complete

All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer. This kind of insight can be helpful if you're planning to submit your work or even just want to stand out more here on Wattpad. ☙ - I used to provide critiques for three writers, all of them traditionally published. One Short Story A Day PT2
I'm going to attempt to write a short story every day for a year. I just decided to load them onto Wattpad. Feel free to follow the journey, comment on the stories, and if you have any good writing prompts, I'd love to hear them. This is PART TWO, as I just found out there is a limit to how many chapters can be in a story on Wattpad.

This book is comprised of all of the short stories that I've written in recent years. A good number of the stories in here were written for contests throughout Wattpad and most was inspired by Challenge Corner's 'Changing Seasons' contest. Not every story will be advertised because it will decrease the success of the submitted stories. Out of every ten submissions, one will be chosen and advertised.
