The year: 2025. The Black Dagger Brotherhood has seen increases in membership over the last several years due to it's training program.... and experienced many losses. Several males of warrior ancestry have been discovered and welcomed into the ranks of this elite group of fighters in order to battle the sudden rise in lesser attack. But the fight is being lost, and unless the Brothers can battle the trouble brewing within their own ranks, they will fall.

Amidst the turmoil, the newest members of the Brotherhood rise to face the challenge. Mayhem is the strongest of all the Brothers, and the most brutal. His love of battle is matched only by the pleasure he takes from seeing lessers fall before him. But when a joke with another Brother turns sour and results in the near death of a human woman, Mayhem is caught between his duty to the vampire race and his own lust for the reserved but resilient Jess.
