“That stupid road, he could swear it took him to the hospital.” It was 1914 when the First World War broke out it, all because of one death, Archduke Franz Ferdinand; some blamed the assassin, Gavrilo Princip, others the chauffeur, Ivan Koell. Ivan was just driving one of the most important people, at the time, the death was nothing to do with him, the turn was a shortcut, a quicker way for Fran Ferdinand to get to the hospital, Gavrilo Princip was a coincidence. So why did he feel so bad?

The year is 1917, and the Great War is slowly drawing to a close, but the end can't come fast enough for the two nations from the Southern Hemisphere, exhausted and ready to go home and to try to resume a normal life. Kyle knows he's close to breaking. Even hearing the name of that cursed place aloud causes him pain, and he knows Avery feels the same. Then comes that stupid smiling American, with his talk of heroes and aide. And Kyle can't help but start to feel differently about Alfred. But developing such feelings in the middle of war can be a dangerous thing.
