The Fourth Olympics
We all know the story of the Mockingjay Rebellion. Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her twelve year old sister for this event called The Hunger Games where twenty four children fight to the death and only one comes out as victor. A boy named Peeta Mellark was reaped alongside her. These two come out of the games as "Starcrossed Lovers". This caused a few uprisings in some districts. President Snow doesn't want another rebellion so he sends Katniss and Peeta back into the games with other Victors from each district. This causes a whole other war and this time, the districts pull out on top. The Hunger Games are ended and Snow is executed and everyone is safe again. Yeah, let's fast foward about fifty years. Before the District 12 volunteer there was a stupid little tribute from 10.Before the 74th Hunger Games there was the 69th. My Hunger Games.My name is Aria Moulson and I won the 69th Hunger Games 6 years ago. I was the first Mockingjay. Trust me I never wanted to be. I never wanted to start a rebellion I just wanted to get in and out. But, the people of Panem had a different idea. They saw me as the light in the darkness. They saw me as their way out of President Snow's wrath. They saw me as their Mockingjay. Why they saw me as the Mockingjay? It was because I was the first tribute to ever speak out about the Capitol's tyranny. A moment of weakness in the games and it cost me a lifetime of pain and suffering. The 136th Hunger Games
When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. Despite secretly training for the Games in the cow pastures surrounding her home, and being pretty handy with a knife, Kira's kind heart may be the thing that holds her back the most. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated.
