Mature
After being abandoned at the age of two by her teenage mother, Charlotte was doomed to spend the next 16 years of her life in the foster care system, being moved constantly from family to family, leaving each one behind as soon as she started to settle into her new life. After all, everyone looking to adopt wanted a baby- not her. Eventually, Charlotte came to the realization that she was by herself. No matter how many foster families she met, none of them were her family. As she grew up, Charlotte formed a shell around herself, unwilling to let anyone get close to her because she knew that they would eventually leave her, just as her mother had. In order to try and survive in the rough conditions of group homes and foster families, Charlotte started going by Charlie to sound tougher and less dainty, and never let anyone see who she really was.

Now, 2 months before her eighteenth birthday, Charlie has no choice but to flee her foster home. Being almost 18, she knows the foster system won't come looking for her anyway. She decides to find what she's always wanted most- a family. She decides to find her mother.

She enlists Scott, some random guy from some random diner, to help her on her journey. He did offer, after all, and he has the one thing she doesn't- a car. Together, Charlie and Scott embark on a journey to find Charlie's mother. They're both in search of something different, but they learn a lot about each other- and Charlie learns a lot about herself. Will they be able to find what they're so desperately searching for?
