A short narrative I wrote for school based on experiences I had as a little girl,
switched the names around a bit.
In this short story you'll meet Elena, a eleven (to twelve) year old girl in the AWANA program at her church. Being home schooled she struggles to fit in, desperately wanting a friend. Instead she is greeted with a cold slap in the face of reality, Jessica. A rotten bully, out to give hard working Elena a hard time.

For seventeen-year-old Kale Jackson, life has never been easy. In fact, for someone his age, it's as bad as it could get. Despite his attempts to remain somewhat optimistic about his plight, the relentless bullying he faces at school, and the deplorable conditions he's forced to live in fight him at every angle. If not for his roommates and devoted boss, he may have bit the bullet. Literally. When an unforeseen event forces things to change, however, his guarded heart struggles to accept that his life might be turning around.
