I haven't got an official title for my novel because it is still in its draft. This is just an example of one of the ideas I have come up with and my colleagues have agreed to name it for now. This extract is one of the chapters further into the story, so if you have already started reading the longer version, keep on reading until you reach this chapter. This may be different from the piece, but in a way it's good to read an author's drafts because if career-wise you wish to become a writer, drafting is crucial and you will face rewriting a piece a number of times, and it takes an incredibly long time to do unless you are completely satisfied with your work. I have spent over a year focusing on my novel when I get the chance to whilst balancing my education and social life at the same time. Another thing I would like to add is that I used this piece in my AS creative writing course, so if you're wondering by chance why this chapter has been improved the most is because it was a requirement for my coursework.

"Hey," I said cautiously, scared to make the first move. Thankfully, I didn't have to make it. Luca stepped forward and took me by the waist, pulling me close to him. A jealous snarl ripped from Anthony's chest. Did he just growl? What the hell's going on here?! Luca leaned closer to me, ignoring Anthony. "I'm not good with words like these. But you know that, Mavis." He smiled gently while his eyes filled with an emotion - love?- that caused butterflies in my stomach. A warm feeling surrounded my heart. Did it just speed up? "Zachary." I snickered. He growled playfully as I laughed, dodging his attempt to grab me and took off running in a random direction. I feel uneasy under his gaze, and i feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. "No, I won't explain because it's not important." He says in a low, almost, growl. I flinch and look back into his eyes. I feel hurt by his words and I don't know why, but I know he sees it in my eyes. His faces flashes with regret but it's quickly covered up with his faces going back to it's hard cold look. I feel my heart stop and my face go pale. His look terrified me making me hold my breath. "Breath." He orders. I start to breathe again and just blink at him. "Now go." He orders me again. I flinch involuntarily at his tone and jump back slightly. "Please don't let me walk home alone." I beg in a quiet voice, looking down at my feet. The next thing I see are his black combat boots right in front of my shoes. I look up into his eyes and he looks down into mine confusion written all over his face. "How come you aren't running yet?" He questions searching my eyes. "I just can't walk home alone, please I'm scared." I hear him chuckle. "You aren't afraid of me? What can possibly be scarier than me?" He asks. "Well, I know you will keep me safe." "Why is that?" He questions raising an eyebrow at me. "You haven't hurt me." "Yet." He mutters, but I roll my eyes.Complete
