Yvain Summers was a normal girl with a normal life and one friend, Asher Long. She has never thought wrong, she has never shed the blood of anyone, nor has she said anything horrendous in the slightest.
Was. Nobody knows what has happened to her. One day she started losing her mind, screaming whenever she's touched. She started bullying her former bullies. She even bit off a girl's finger for her own sick, demented amusement.
Her mother put her in an insane asylum, but it would never help. Her sickness will never be cured.

Her only escape from this twisted reality is a creature named Shadow. A terrifying creature that is somehow more humane than the so-called humans around her. Shadow could easily take all her problems away, but Melody refuses to take the easy way out. That is, until she just couldn't take it anymore, she takes Shadow's offer and soon her life got better. Her bullies started disappearing, showing up dead in the woods. Their bodies badly mutilated, almost unrecognizable. Life at school started getting better, she finally had human friends and even a boyfriend. Her "father" was found dead at her house. The torture had finally ended.
