Two years ago Piper Alvarez had fallen in love with the one boy her family couldn't have afforded her falling in love with: Blake Ashford. But it happened, and when his mother found out, Piper and her family were thrown out with the morning's garbage as if they were exactly that: garbage. Her family was in charge of cleaning, cooking and gardening in and around the mansion, but it didn't matter that they did a good job. No. Tiffany Ashford would not stand for her son seeing or dating "A lowly one".
But even though two years had passed, Piper still felt the tug in her heart when she thought about Blake. Not once had someone else caught her eye, so she filed him away in the far reaches of her mind and decided that one day she would get over her first love.
Getting a full ride to Blackwell University helped in this. For once she wasn't dependent on her family, no, now she could help her family. They didn't have to pay for her school, so she worked part time at the cantina on campus to help pay for her expenses and live independently of the family she loved.
What didn't help file Blake away was Blake himself, who reappeared in her life during the mid-semester auditorium her freshman year. He froze when she saw him, her heart broke.

He was wearing a blank expression on his face so I guess he didn't really care if I kissed him or not. "'Bye.' I say after Edwin's kiss. He gives me a small smile that honestly looks more like a grimace. It makes me a little uncomfortable having him kiss me in the library. Edwin walks away, and someone standing in the corner of my vision makes me turn in my seat. A tall, muscular man is standing there, his arms crossed, staring at me. He's got dark brown hair, perfect eyebrows, and soft brown eyes. Honestly, he's gorgeous. And since I've read, and edited, about five articles about him, I recognize him immediately. Dane Sawyer. He's the best pitcher on our baseball team. He's hoping to go pro, although I'm not totally sure what the process is surrounding that, since I don't retain much of the information from the articles that I read about him. I know that he's also a junior, and that his girlfriend is hot as fuck. I've seen them together on campus. They're hard to miss because they are easily one of the most attractive couples that I've ever seen. I'm convinced that I must be hallucinating, because he makes eye contact and walks towards me.
