Sawyer Lawson and Parker Brown didn't exactly hate each other. But they didn't exactly like each other. They tolerated each other when they had to, like when the Lawson's came over to the Brown's house for dinner because Parker's dad was Sawyer's mom and dad's boss.
When they first met, they hardly exchanged a few words, but as Sawyer is an only child, and Parker's only sibling is away at college, they are incidentally pushed together by their parents time and time again at conferences, dinners, and social events.
And yes, Parker was hot, and yes, Sawyer was hot too. They were both smart, and sassy. Although Sawyer much rather enjoyed the presence of fictional characters than actual people, whereas Parker enjoyed staring in football/soccer games, and being surrounded by friends.

And maybe they had a tiny crush on each other...just maybe...

NEW VERSION IS PUBLISHED "He squints his eyes at me with an intense glare that makes me squirm. I don't know if it's the intense pain in my shoulder or his stare, but something sends a shiver down my spine. I have now extended to my full height and look up to realize this guy is towering over me, not looking too happy. I become aware of our close proximity and take a step back, averting my eyes from his intense gaze. I clear my throat and fumble with the edge of my apron, looking down as I say, 'Sorry 'bout that.' I hear no response. I wait a moment, then I look up and he's gone." Spencer Hastings knows one thing for sure: he hates Jack Summers. Everything about him. He hates his rude manners, his intense stare, his restless movements. But he just can't lay a finger on why Jack Summers unnerves him so much. Until now. Cameron and Toby have always flown under the radar, never really being noticed by anyone. But they're keeping a HUGE secret. Since the ninth grade, South Finley High has had an unusual amount of successful couples- and C and T are to blame. No matter who it is, no matter who they like, and no matter what the circumstances, the two girls have matched together 104 couples and have not once been discovered. The only group of people they have not dared to meddle with happen to be the most popular girls and guys in school. But one day, Cameron risks a bold move. She observes the Populars in their natural habitat and makes a shocking discovery. Instead of a casual love triangle or two, all nine Populars are ensnared in an intricate love knot. There's no way the matchmakers can't get involved now, but this might be their most difficult task yet. *this book is lgbt+ and contains a relationship between two boys*
