Ava is in a future earth in the year 3053, where Cyborgs and Robots rule.  The only city is Edom and all other settlements are towns.  Ava lives in Town #53 with no family and her only friend Melony is taken Subject by the robots.  Many rumors surround those taken Subject with no clear truth as those who are taken are never heard from again.  

Ava's Best friend Katie who was taken subject 3 years ago now has to survive the lab with her friends Reece and Jazz.  They are now seen as freaks because of the experiments done on them while stuck there.
