Zalon's blade cut through the drow's sword, and then through the drow. But as the blade cut through the drow, he disintegrated into ash.

The same thing happened to the next drow to face the beast, and the next; and the next. The light from the blade seemed to cut through the drow before the blade did.

Drow after drow was felled by the great beast. The light from within the weapon burned them before it struck them, hindering them from striking back or even making a defense against it.

In The Wake Of Crows And Snakes by 0Rose0White0
6 parts Ongoing Mature
Visions flashed before Y/n's eyes: a snake coiling to strike, a blinding green light from a wand, and the taste of ash burning her throat. Fear built up, making her tremble and whimper until... a black crow appeared. Its presence brought an unexpected calm, and as it let out a gentle 'caw,' a warm, soothing sensation spread through her. Y/n Claremont, known in the Wizarding world as a 'seer,' had always dismissed her prophetic dreams as mere superstition, convinced they were nothing more than vivid fancies. Her mother, however, had insisted otherwise. As she embarked on her Fourth year at Hogwarts with her best friends, the golden trio, she found her world increasingly intertwined with her visions. Amidst her struggles to reconcile her skepticism with the eerie accuracy of her dreams, Y/n's path crossed with Draco Malfoy. His arrogance and cold demeanor initially seemed to drive them apart, but there was a magnetic tension between them that neither could ignore. Despite his dismissive attitude toward Y/n's seer reputation, Draco's own hidden secrets began to intertwine with her visions. The more Y/n tried to keep him at a distance, the more she found herself drawn to the complexity beneath his icy facade. In moments of unexpected closeness, when their hands brushed or their eyes met with unspoken understanding, Y/n felt a flicker of something more-a tentative connection that defied the barriers of their differences. (I do not own Harry Potter or any of J.K. Rowling's original characters, plot points, or works. All rights are hers. This fan fiction and Y/n's journey are my own creation.)

With the autumn harvest on its way and already two horses down, things look bleak. The war still wages, and as more troops die Vale Havon grows more desperate. The Royal family is willing to do anything to save their kingdom. To keep their power. So, the drafts begin. Suddenly the Western border is not safe anymore. Zaffre knows if she's sent to fight her mother can't keep the farm running. So she goes into hiding. Except no secret stays hidden, and Zaffre's role in the world is far bigger than simply harvesting plants. Everything just got a whole lot more complicated. Excerpt: A cold sweat began to trickle its way down her back and a shiver traveled up her spine. It was when the hair on the back of her neck stood on the end that she realized something was wrong. She took a few more steps forward in the dark forest when she finally comprehended the thing that flashed a warning in her instincts. The sounds of the woods she'd been hearing all night, the birds, crickets, and scuttering squirrels had all gone silent. That only meant one thing, and one thing only, a predator was on the hunt. This time it wasn't her. *Trigger Warning, the book contains, violence, blood, fighting
