For generations male and female werewolves struggled to find their mates. Many of them grew up and grew old mate less because the thought of loving someone that wasn't meant for them, wasn't hand picked for them by the moon goddess didn't sit well.
There was an old myth that every pup was told centuries ago about a sacred ritual that took place between the first two years of their birth. This ritual bounded each pup to a piece of jewelry; necklaces, bracelets, rings. These articles were said to be given to the pup on their sixteenth birthday and would help them find their mate. After hundreds of years this mythical ritual has come to life.
