Calisaya Hawthorne, has a life she never wanted. Her life has always been a boring, bland, and lonely mess.
Being an orphan at the age of fifteen has resulted in the introvert personality she hides behind, causing Cali to only have one friend and a boyfriend she's not quite sure she wants anymore.
On the account of her mothers death, an invitation to her high school reunion leads her directly into the path of Alastair, the extremely attractive twenty-four year old she can't seem to shake off her tail.
She immediately notices something very off about him, and soon enough she finds out just what that is, and it's not what she expected.
Cali finds her entire life blown to pieces by a man she's not sure is entirely human, and she quickly realizes that he might just be the death of her. Literally.
Regardless of the danger he has dragged her into she can't seem to stay away. He might just be everything she has always dreamed of.

If the extraterrestrials go too long without Qi, people on the alien planet will die. However, when Qi is extracted from Earth, the weak and elderly of Earth will die. The beacon can only be activated by the alien who was left here and only when the planets are in a particular alignment. The next time is only two months away during the Autumnal Equinox. When Zoe discovers who the alien is, it's a complete game changer because the alien is closer to her than she ever could have imagined. The story takes place in a small town surrounded by forest near the Oregon-California border. Of course it does, after all, the highest concentration of Qi is found in forests where ancient redwoods grow. You might be wondering, what is Qi? In Japan it is called "ki," and in India, "prana"."
