"Do you think we'll ever get out of here? To home I mean."

"I dunno. I guess. I mean, we have to."

"What if we don't? What will happen to us then?"

"I'm not sure. But at least we'll have each other."

Life's not been kind to seventeen year old Laura Stevenson. Her mother died when she was a baby, leaving her with an abusive and alcoholic stepfather. She's never known what it feels like to be loved - which is why she is the way she is. Different. Stronger. Braver.

When things get ugly one night she seeks refuge at her uncle, Doctor Emmet Brown's, house.

A catastrophic turn of events throws her and a blue-eyed teenager named Marty McFly together; and Laura finally begins to learn to trust someone again. Soon, she finds herself inadvertently attached to the boy in the orange life preserver.

But things can get very complicated when you're chasing someone's parents, trying to fix a time machine and balance your love life all at the same time.

Oh, and the fact that Marty's Dad has developed a not-so-discreet crush on Laura, really isn't helping her situation.
