Izzy

An only child living in the 1800s, Isabelle Marie DuPont was only seven years old when her mother and father died in a tragic storm at sea. They were traveling back from England, where her mother's family lived. Her father had business to attend to with the English, and her mother, having not seen her brothers and sisters in years, went along. Initially, Isabelle, known within the household as "Izzy," was going to join them, but contracted cholera within a few days of their planned departure. Margaret, Izzy's mother, begged her French husband, Phillipe, to let her stay behind and care for their child, but he refused, reminding her that the infection could easily and quickly spread to others. So, Isabelle was shut up in a dark, quiet room for weeks, with only her French nurse, Aimee, to care for her, along with the occasional visit from a doctor. This is where our story begins....
