Unrequited love is a terrible, terrible joke for life to play on someone. Thomas, of course, knew this from firsthand experience. His bestfriend, Newt, had been the subject of his desire for as long as he could remember, though Newt had never come close to expressing the same interest.

It didn't take Thomas long to realize that watching the person he was hopelessly in love with fall for someone else, someone who wasn't him, also really kinda sucked. A lot.

 Yet somehow, watching the man he loved be repeatedly hurt was the worst joke life had played on him yet.
