In a world where people take roles as Chess pieces, there are the Kings, Queens, Knights, Bishops, Rooks, and... The Pawns... In that order they take their roles when in school from their headmasters in their first years, by having a showdown.

They can't be Kings or Queens unless they're actually royalty, but others would much rather be the next best, Knights, which only the best can become, the rest either become Bishops, Rooks, or... Pawns... Which are the lowliest of them all.

Now, Torin Cecil, a beautiful and tsundere noble, is a Knight. Everyone in his family has been one, his family was special, almost royalty, they even had their own religion that everyone followed. No one back talks him.

Except, for a boy named Ashe Green/Bennett, a bold and stunning peasant, whom doesn't really care.

When Asher accidentally bumps into Torin, Torin yells at him, and Asher acts out smug-like, sparking tension between them and their families.

This leads to many mishaps, and the headmaster, Adonai Cecil himself, has been told to watch over them by Damien Cecil, to make sure everything goes to plan, and nothing gets in their way.
