The Mind Link Project

The Mind Link Project; a revolutionary new way to improve below average students. The children would be partnered up with another student around the same age, and they'd be connected via a telepathic link. Through this link, students could talk to their partners and their grade level would rise at least 20%. Sadly, this dream was not a reality for too long.

Children started reacting negatively to the Project five months after it's startup, the effects becoming worse and worse as time went on. It started with harmless little things, like silly insults and discord between Linked children. It slowly got worse, isolation, children starving themselves, psychotic thoughts, suicide, and even murder in two cases.

Due to the multitude of lawsuits increasing at an alarming rate, the Project was shut down and everyone directly related to the Project had all memories of the event terminated. The microchips used for the Link were removed and the children were let go. End of story.

No, not end of story. Unfortunately, this project causes even more atrocities, as many of the children were looked over due to faulty equipment and lazy removal surgeons. When these children reached adulthood, the chips became permanently fused to their skulls, impossible to remove without killing the host. It was at this time that power hungry government officials, who had bribed their way out of the memory loss, discovered that these microchips were highly susceptible to foreign software. It was a way for scientists to update the microchips when the students became adults. An ingenious idea, but was now being used to corrupt the Mind Link children and turn them into puppets of war.

There had never been that many mass suicides in a year.
