In a society obsessed with a zombie apocalypse, where every single person has its own dystopian fantasy, it's kind of hard to believe that an actual apocalypse of flesh-eating dead would ever exist.
A virus starts appearing in remote Russian villages, but those were quickly dismissed by the government and the media as a new type of the flu virus. As more and more rumors about what kind of disease is actually breaking are starting to flood the internet, the rest of the world starts pressuring Russia to explain what is really going on. These are times of delicate international relationships, when a false step can mean that a Third World War might happen.
Anya lives in small town in a small country, the last place you would expect to be the center of attention. But since some people started to feel unusual symptoms - which are being dismissed as a new case of a flu virus - everything started to go from bad, to worse. Chaos settles in, and without answers, fear rules the streets. This is where our story with Anya starts, as she tries to unravel what is going on and deals with all that's starting to happen in her country - and, as well, with the rest of the world.

It starts with a simple itch, nothing more. Maybe a few random spasms or the occasional shudder but you'll think nothing of it. Then you'll get blood shot eyes... Not enough sleep? It gets worse, much worse. The itching turns to scratching, clawing at you skin until it bleeds... and bleeds and bleeds. The Wildfire Virus. That's the illness the eggheads have called dubbed that has spread alarmingly fast all over the world. No could figure out at first how and where it came from or how even spread so quickly. I was on leave, visiting brother in Boston when the infection hit. Yesterday, the world was normal with its own conflicts. The next, millions get sick, hospitals are overwhelmed, and any sort of space was converted into a makeshift hospital to handle all the sick. On day 2 the sick died and awoke attacking the living. I tried to get out of the city, but the military closed off every major access point and now I'm trapped within, along with millions of undead. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in.
