Mother Earth has always been kind to humanity. At least, she was.
Out of frustration with human kind, she rips the world in two. Half of world is left with a colorful, caring spirit; fitting it's name, Joy. The other half is easily angered and always unhappy; also fitting it's name, Gloom.
Mother Earth soon gets lonely and bored of her previous decision. She wants a change. She wants the world to come together, and merge as one once again. That's when she blesses Elyssa and Edmund.
The chosen boy and girl, Elyssa and Edmund, are both outcasts in their own world. They were once nobodies. But now, as tension and drama thickens, they seem to be the only hope for survival. They also are part of the problem.... And they could, not on purpose of course, be killing off more people than they're saving.

Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. Under the facade of a normal group of Gamemakers, several rebellious citizens have begun an experiment which, if it succeeds, will make use of technology both to rescue the tributes before they are dead and then deposit the brainwashed children back in time. They have to try it. No one knows what horrors future Hunger Games may bring, and the desperate rebels are willing to try anything. Meanwhile, in the mountainous regions of District 2, Cato Hadley and Clove Kentwell have trained their whole lives for the Games. Nevertheless, their ambitions change when they, without meaning to, find themselves in the Games together. They are both determined to win. But if they don't, what will happen to them? The brainwashed tributes who land in New York City know nothing of who they are or where they are from. They do not remember Panem, or the Games, or even their own names. There is no such thing as a good side and bad side in a war. We are both the good and bad side. It just depends on your perspective. At the end of the day when the sun goes down we are still the murderers who took the lives of hundreds and sometimes thousands. We are still the ones who have orphaned children. Someone is keeping secrets and they might decide the fate of the Colony. The plan to end the war just might work but it is the most controversial topic in history. The people of Cambaar split into two sides over the final battle. Lorelei still doesn't believe it will work. As the war rages forward relationships unravel. Sanity is lost.
