Summer is a girl who seems to have it all. Perfect grades, bubbly, nice parents, fit; the type of girl that draws everyone to her. But people don't realise that behind the smiles, there lies a girl who feels lost, alone and has been contemplating taking her life for several years. During the journey that is her life, Summer must decide whether the suffering and pain that everyone goes through will end her life, or if the joys and small beauties of life are worth living for.

This story shows that you should never judge people because you don't know them, and mentions the struggles of life that everyone faces.

Note: I wrote this as a challenge to write a short story in one day!!! Please try to remember that I was only 14 when I wrote this and as I only had one day to write it, it hasn't been edited!!

"If you love me, you won't leave me." Jessie has believed those words from her boyfriend, Josh, since senior year of high school. She loves him and doesn't want to leave him. Not even when he shouts at her and hits her. Jessie's best friend, Kolleen, can't stand seeing her in that situation. With a bit of convincing - and the worst beating she'd ever received - Jessie agrees to move into an apartment with Kolleen. But not long after, Jessie is scared the worst of her nightmares will soon become a reality. Josh goes missing, and suddenly Jessie would swear she's being followed. One night changes everything, and one person soon changes Jessie's outlook. A responding officer from that fateful night begins to seek her out, at first claiming it's part of his job. As she spends time with her new friend outside of his job, she starts realizing that her feelings are evolving. After being abused for over a year, Jessie is terrified she's falling in love. What's even more terrifying is that he might be, too. She isn't ready for love. Not yet. She makes up her mind that if he is falling, and if he does love her, he'll wait for her to be ready, and if she loves him, she won't let herself hurt him. Can the words that used to cage her in really be the key to her freedom? --- Featured On: @NA: Take a seat and let it be | Mature Content and 18+ reading list @NA: You deserve the world | Mental Health reading list Ambys Top Picks New Adult 2023

My Last Summer

2 parts Ongoing Mature

"What begins but has no end, and ends all that begins?" A riddle that once stumped me but now I wish I never knew the answer. It took eighteen years-and a terminal diagnosis-for Alina Doe to finally learn the answer. Alina Doe, a cute, short and curvy girl, spent her whole life wishing to have an adventure into the great unknown but all of that changed when she turned 18. However, that didn't stop her from having her last summer after graduating. After graduating high school, Alina is supposed to be dreaming about her future. Instead, she's counting the weeks she has left. When an unexpected summer in California offers her one last escape from hospitals, fear, and goodbyes, Alina decides to live the life she always dreamed of-just for a little while. Sun-drenched days, late-night laughter, and stolen moments blur the line between living and falling in love. But as her feelings grow, so does the truth she can't outrun: some loves are meant to be felt, not kept. The Last Summer is a bittersweet story about friendship, first love, and learning that even the shortest lives can leave the deepest marks. What will happen to Alina? Will she find what she's looking for? Or will the thing she's looks for find her?
