Life is simple here. You do not obtain your vision of colors until you have physical contact  (varying from a punch to a kiss)  with the one you will spend the rest of your life with. Until you find that person, you see nothing but black and white. Almost like being forever trapped in an old movie. Some people find their love when they are 3. Some find love when they are 50. Chances are endless. But for these characters, they either don't care, are lost, or blatantly confused by it all.  But they are more similar then you'd think. Remember when I said that a kiss or an award had a time limit on it? Well, if you find the right person to say "I love you" to, that doesn't go away. That doesn't vanish. That lingers on forever if you're especially lucky.
