For Tamara "Tara" Morningstar, getting in an accident on her first anniversary wasn't in on the plan.

Neither was dying.

What's worse is, she's stuck in a place called the In-Between, where souls like her; souls who've died before their time are trapped until they find what's been tying them to the earth, and let it go.

But Tara isn't ready to let go of Tristan.

Not yet.

Then she meets Alex-Dark, gorgeous and brooding Alex is a guy who's stuck in the in-between just like her, and someone who has many secrets of his own. There can't be two people more different then Tris and Alex, and yet Tara is strangely drawn towards the mysterious boy; a boy she knows she's seen somewhere before.

After a series of impenetrable events-all of which point accusingly towards the person she thought loved her the most-Tara realizes what seemed to be an accident wasn't actually one, and things start getting out of hand.

Now Tara is faced with an impossible choice:

Have faith in his love for her and stay in the in-between forever, watching Tristan from afar; or find out what really happened the day she died, and let him go.
