"It wasn't supposed to be this way. And Dan had thought that being a magical boy was the least of his problems." ------- Part-time magical boy Dan Howell discovers that protecting the school from evil mascots is nothing compared to the struggles of everyday life as a teenager. Between making sure that his best friend isn't part of some cereal cult, managing new friends, and having an existential crisis every few days, Dan finds it easy to distract himself. But that doesn't mean Phil doesn't notice, so sometimes bits of the truth seep through the cracks. Maybe there's a chance for Dan just yet. -------- A story based on "The Phanga" from The Amazing Book is Not on Fire. Original story by Dan and Phil and original cover art by Arctoids.

The library. The only place where 18 year old Dan Howell can escape his (abusive) parents. His life has been terrible. Parents always fighting. Parents being drunk. What a happy life, right? It wasn't until one day at the library, a new boy named Phil decided to visit the library. After encountering each other whilst trying to grab the same book and start talking, they instantly realize they share things in common. When Dan decided to tell Phil this "cute" little thing couples do, Phil decides to do it, too. For him. For the boy he had just met in the library. TW: Abusive parenting, mentions of self-harm. Not very major, though. Genre: Fluff, some angst This is basically a Teen!Phan phanfic and an AU.
