Acceptance is something everyone wants. We all want to be cool, popular, but to put it simply, we just want to fit in. However, this little thing proves to be the greatest challenge to Ezra. Ezra knows only the feeling of being rejected and despised ever since he was little. But the sad thing is...it is not his fault. It is his shadow that is to blame.
  
  Ezra was born with the one-of-a-kind ability to solidify his shadow-allowing it to walk at his side. Unfortunately, Ezra's shadow is highly protective of its master which ultimately keeps people away due to its intense power. Years of isolation have allowed Ezra to see just how cruel and unforgiving people truly are. Not knowing anything beyond the walls of his town, he often dreams of how life would be like if he was normal.
  
  On an average day, Ezra meets a traveling performer. This chance encounter begins to unfold the path to Ezra's future. Learning of The Church of Zelst, a mystical church that floats through the sky, Ezra sets off with the hopes to remove his 'gift.' But things are far more dangerous than he could have ever imagined. Every decision will test Ezra's strength and will to move forward. Only having a narrow view of life, Ezra is forced to learn the ways of life he never knew existed. Other Powers will join him, some will try to kill him, leaving Ezra one, and only one, choice: Learn how to survive.  With dangerous enemies at every turn, Ezra is willing to put his life on the line to find this mystical church...all for the sakes of being normal.

Especially not when they start eating at her curiosity. There's something about Leo that pulls her in, like a puzzle she can't solve. She's been struggling with a hole in her life, the loss of someone she cared about, someone who's been gone for far too long. Desperate for answers and willing to do anything, Maya ends up making a deal. It's one of those things you hear about in hushed tones, something that sounds almost too unreal to be true, but she doesn't care. All she wants is for them to come back, and the cost? Well, she figures she'll deal with that later. But just as she's about to seal the deal, Leo shows up, like some kind of reluctant hero. He tries to save her, to break the bargain before it's too late, but his intervention backfires. The deal takes its toll on her in a way she never expected, half of her soul gets torn away, scattered across town. To make things worse, part of the demon that tricked her takes root inside her, filling the void and granting her powers. But it's not all gifts. With those powers comes the threat of losing who she is, of being consumed by the very thing she tried to control. Maya is left with a terrifying choice: use the powers to reclaim her soul or risk losing herself completely.

Karkat Vantas. A very unpopular, short, and short-tempered troll. He tries desperately to make it through his first year in a human school, but with everyone still not fully accepting trolls added on with his so-called 'stupid' blood color, he can't find a single person who understands him, yet. Dave Strider. Maybe one of the most popular guys in the school. Nobody knows why he's always wearing those cool ironic shades of his, and most people want to find out. But Dave himself wants his eyes to stay hidden, and nobody else has ever seen them. He thinks that if anyone did, they would make fun of him and his good reputation would immediately disappear. The two, basically opposites, find that they actually might get along and relate to each other. But who knows what a simple sentence could do? (this is my second fanfic and the first homestuck one i've ever written so if the writing sucks don't judge! also none of the art is mine. ships included will most likely be johndave at the beginning, and throughout the fic theres gonna be erisol, rosemary, some jadenep, johndirk, and vrisrezi! if you don't like one or more of these ships deal with it.) The idea of the story is to present the experience of learning to understand and comfort someone through these struggles. So while these themes are contained within a comical styled story, they are still present so please be mindful of that before you read on. You. You're just a normal girl. A normal girl with a normal life... until you meet the boy with blue hair... Name: unknown Age: unknown Human? Unknown How can someone live a life without anyone knowing of their existence? You don't know. But you want too. Determination fills you with a desire to seek more about this boy. There's just something about him that makes you want to know more. He meets your eye. Is a name really too much to ask? He refuses to give you one. If you keep investigating, you'll get hurt. You'll be killed. You'll regret it. It's not a warning. It's simply the truth. You've been noticing strange things going on. He's not in any records. A shotgun fire?! He has wounds that heal all too quickly. How can a boy get shot and heal by the very next day? You want to know, don't you? Then simply allow your mind to go wondering into this book and discover the secrets behind the boy who no one knows. (This book is a representation of my experiences with dating someone with depression in high school. I wrote it while we were dating, subconsciously writing him into the character Infinity. I will say that I intend to rewrite this at some point to send a better message, as I feel some of the actions in this book are unhealthy reactions to depression, that I have a much better perspective of now) [I'm also working on a VN based on this story.... On his return from hiding the treasured item..he comes back to meet his daughter on the floor crying and he asked what happened only to see that his house was burnt down to the foundation..He was truly devastated by this event..He went in and saw bones and tried not to think of the fact that they were skeletal bones of humans only to have a glimpse of two skulls..He thought of crying his eyes out but he then kept himself composed for his young daughter.. They relocated to a small rented apartment where he lived with his daughter and began a normal life but he knew that some day the pack will come looking for him and more looking for his daughter..it was better that she didn't know what her true potentials were..but as she grew she discovered alot but her father kept denying her of her powers so as to keep her safe from the devour's hands.. am Pierre_Luc and this is SHADOW HUNTERS

Dave Strider, not your average normal kid. He seems to be a cool guy, gaining popularity quickly, but his secret is getting harder to sustain in the darkness of his shades and instincts. Karkat Vantas, just your low status ball of rage. He meets Dave after being called into the councilors office. Of course he despises having to "babysit" him the first few classes before an incident happened with the 1950's goons of Cronus Ampora. What will happen later on once the incident is solved, because Cronus had no partake in it? Will Dave be able to sustain his secret in the dark? Or will he be able to trust Karkat enough to tell him his secret? How will Karkat react to it if the secret is revealed?
