In the aftermath, where nobody came out the victor, America along with the rest of the world is left in shambles and disarray. 20 year old Brett Williams has lost her entire family to the war and the aftermath of it. She is taken in by the Saunders of a survivor camp somewhere along the East coast of America. Everyday she wakes up and remembers the dreadful truth that her world will never be the same.
One day, on a supplies run with the "Scouts", Brett is separated from her group from a surprise attack by the "Roaches." Sometime that night, she meets the mysterious Jamie Mitchell. Jamie has seen things and done things in which he would rather soon forget and has a different outlook on life that slightly scares Brett into thinking the cause for humanity may be ending.
