All his life, the angel Castiel has lived in the same tower, in the same hidden corner of the same forest. He longs to see what lies beyond his window and see all there is to see, especially the strange lights that've only appeared on his birthday every year. But Castiel cannot leave his tower, for he has a very special ability, according to his caretaker, Mother Naomi; Castiel his the ability to heal others through the power of his wings. But he cannot leave his home, because as he's been told since he was a small child, the outside world is a dangerous place, and a gift like his must be protected.
But Castiel's life takes an unexpected turn when a stranger, a theif by the name of Dean Winchester appears in his tower.

He went to college to live up to his mother's expectations, but he's starting to rethink whether or not he actually cares about that. Maybe it was the new found independence of living his own life? I love the idea of Destiel, that a human and an angel can move beyond the physical boundaries of the human body, and find something deeper in each other, during a time when they are both ships tossing in a chaotic sea of emotions, and at a time when their lives are absolutely falling apart. They cling to one another, each becoming the other's safe harbor. It's transcends sex, moves beyond the fact that they are both in male form. It is love in its purest form, and it is on a deep and spiritual level. The idea that someone as broken as Dean Winchester can find someone that can see past the darkest parts of himself to the light within and still love him I think is the most beautiful thing on earth.
