The Sad Part About Forever

When Zachary Ryan and Amber Lynn's friendship ends after seven years, the drama between their undefined relationship increases as they struggle between wanting to be more than friends, just friends, and now to enemies.

"At least I don't have two first names!!" I shouted in between giggles, playfully teasing him. I loved to see that sarcastic look and crooked grin he gave me, despite the endless shivers down my spine and the way my stomach decided to become a gymnast and do somersaults all over the place every time his face grew that soft shade of pink. Thank God he couldn't hear my heartbeat.
"Okay, that's it." Zach said, picking me up and effortlessly carrying me over his back. I hung over his shoulders, slapping my hands against his bum clothed in his mud-stained jeans from our previous mud fight. His shirtless back gave view to all of his taunt muscles as he continued to walk, laughing over my empty threats I yelled. He swung me around tossing me into the blue depths of the warm pool. I rose up, swimming over to him as he jumped in, the big splash a reflection of his tall and muscular outline. He pulled me into his bare chest, "Don't you ever leave me, Amber Lynn."
"I won't." I reassured his serious tone and face. His plump lips met mine and not long later my hands were woven into his soft blonde hair, his massive hands secured around my waist.
"Let's stay like this forever, okay?" I said after pulling back for air.
"Forever." He breathed. I just wondered how long forever would last, and apparently not for much longer.

That was how we used to be. Everything was different now, and I didn't know how much longer I could last with things like this, that boy used to be my best friend, my whole world. I just wondered how things would go now that the summer was ending and school was starting again.
