The Oni's Story
In that castle floating high in the sky, ten thousand people got locked inside. Their only way forward was to beat the final boss, or die trying. Two whole years were spent there, stuck in that castle. Each and every one of those who survived have their own story to tell. This is one such story, about a battle-fanatic who earned the moniker of 'the Blood Red Oni'. We might stick close to the original story, or we might veer greatly off-course. Only the Gods will know, for I surely don't. Title is also still very much a Work in Progress, this was just the first thing I could think of. Honestly this has just been a thing that's been brewing deep in my mind for months now (if not years), so instead of just daydreaming about random scenes and story bits I decided to actually 'put it to paper' in some form. Updates might be scarce, or they might be fast. Entirely dependant on my inspiration and my time. As with every story, I don't own anything regarding SAO or its story, except for the characters I made I guess.
Blind Instincts
*COMPLETED* My head bowed in a heavy mannor, not in respect, but in trepidation. I discern his unwavering gaze over my ill silhouette. "Look at me." I opened my eyes, though it made no difference. Black is still black, all I am left with are my four senses. He will kill me if I don't look. He will kill me if I do. He will look into my sightless eyes and see my futile existence isn't worth living. He will kill me, and he will be doing the pack a justice by it. He growls a low, throaty snarl to warn me about disobeying an alpha. There will be consequences, we both know that. His lingering growls let me know he is not going to allow me to contravene his word. I steadily inch my head upwards, visibly shaking everywhere else. Maybe he won't notice my depthless eyes from across the gazebo. My life depends on it. During the medieval times, vampires were known as demons from hell. They were hunted and killed, nearly exterminating their entire species. Then in the late 1800s, they were simply hunted for sport. Kind of like fishing, it wasn't important, just a pastime. During the 1950s to the early 2000s, vampires didn't even exist, just a fantasy made up by desperate book writers and silly teenage girls who dreamed of sparkling pale men with a thirst for their blood. Now, however, in 2063, vampires practically rule the world. Their aren't a lot of them so to speak, but the ones that do exist are very powerful. Most of the presidents and other high powers are open vampires. Hell, even I work for one. I almost forgot to introduce myself. I'm Zero Kiryu, and I have a very big secret. Two really, one is that I absolutely hate vampires. Despise them, even. I'm one of those 'assholes' as they say, that patrol at night to keep rogues at bay. My other secret, well even vampires don't know that one. I happen to be a vampire myself; I just have a very powerful seal on me. Only downside to that seal, is that it would be broken if even one little bitty drop of my blood was shed. I'd made it this far, but what happens when I get too careless? The following story is the result of a game I played with a fellow writer, a fan of Fantasy and Manga. Basically, I offered to email him the beginning of a story. He would write the next part and send it back to me. I would write the next part, send it, and so on. But he didn't have enough time to take part in this little game. I then suggested that we write a story in the form of a serial and send the parts to each other by e-mail, once a week, for two months. My plan was to turn it into a summer mini-series. Caught up in the story, this attempt lasted through autumn, and winter, and was finished in spring. So, my first thanks go to you, Jeremy. I'd also like to thank the most diligent critic of my writing: Renault. Your corrections and comments were very relevant and were a great help. I hope that I will, at long last, be able to buy you a drink and discuss it with you face to face. As we haven't seen each other for more than five years, we probably won't even recognise one another anymore. Through my writing I have had the privilege of meeting a lot of different people, from all walks of life, but mostly waiters and waitresses in the (far too) numerous Brussels cafés, Exki, Pain Quotidien, and others, where I write, as well as the hotel staff in the Novotel, where I was living.
