Vanessa Epcott had a bright future. She was pretty, intelligent, and had a great group of friends. She was the captain of her Vancouver high school hockey team as a junior, and had dozens of the best schools in the United States begging her to play for them. Vanessa had the world at her feet. Until her entire family was brutally murdered.
At 24, her life is in shambles. She bounces from job to job, can't afford her rent, and falls into relationships with all of the wrong men. One night, she reaches her breaking point and attempts to take her own life. Out of the blue, she's visited by an old friend, who convinces her to move closer to his home in Boston.
