Maka is about to go on a dangerous Meister mission, one that Soul does not want her to go on. However, she has made it clear that she is going, but before she leaves, she gives Soul a quite unexpected surprise.

Of course, things don't exactly happen as they're supposed to, so Maka will end up dealing with the result of her "surprise" earlier than expected.

However, it seems that there is someone who is trying to sabotage this mission, and it's up to Maka, Soul, and the rest of the gang to figure out who it is and what they are trying to accomplish.
