Jack was slumped in his black desk chair, scribbling away at a math equation. His older brothers band music was flying up the stairs and playing softly in his bedroom, until another piece of music overpowered his brothers band music. It sounded somewhat... French? Jack took out his phone from the jacket flung over the back of the desk chair and opened up Shazam. Édith Piaf? He swirled in his pillowy chair and leaned over his desk to look over the window that overlooked the driveway. There was a girl around his age, a red trolley in one hand, and what looks like circulars in the other. She was doing a paper run. The Édith Piaf music seemed to be coming from the red apple patterned trolley. Jack couldn't take his eyes off the girl. Her brown hair strung into a ponytail, which flowed down her back. She had aviators on the top of her head, and she kept trying to shove the circulars into Jack's yellow mail box. Jack was too dumbstruck to go downstairs to help her. Finally, in a huff, the girl dropped the trolley - resulting in it spilling out 1,000 newspapers - and successfully slipping the circulars into the tiny mail box.
"Fuck!" She muttered loudly. This at least helped Jack snap out of his trance, and stable down the stairs and out into the driveway to help collect up the circulars.
The front door slammed and the girl looked up. Her eyes were green like the grass in spring. They were beautiful. She was beautiful.
"Uh, hi?" She questioned, stopping and standing up straight.
Jack did not prepare for this. He straightened his t shirt and held out his hand. "I'm, uh, Jack." He smiled politely, the girl returned the smile, her lips, the perfect shape. "Hey Jack, I'm Charlie." Charlie grinned.
They both leant down and started picking up the spillage of newspapers. Jack spoke up after what felt like hours, "So what're you doing out so late doing a paper run?" He chuckled at the last couple words.
Elliot Jensen and Elliot Fintry have a lot in common. They share the same name, the same house, the same school, oh and they hate each other but, as they will quickly learn, there is a fine line between love and hate.
