It's 1971. Tensions between pureblood and Muggle-born wizards are rising. A new Dark Wizard is gaining power. No one knows who they can trust. In a dark, unfriendly world, five students begin their magical education at Hogwarts. 

Lily Evans, the pretty Muggle-born, must navigate the dangerous waters of Hogwarts, where half the students hate her for her blood.

James Potter, the talented only child of an older couple, tries to bring light to this brutal world through happiness and jokes.

Sirius Black, the hated older child, must deal with the scorn of being Sorted into the hated Gryffindor house and the spying done on him by family members.

Remus Lupin, the half-blood son of a Ministry of Magic employee, must face his worst demons on a regular basis.

Peter Pettigrew, the half-blood younger son, struggles with the simplest charms and is bullied as a result.

Together, the five could achieve amazing things. But it's difficult when the world is against them. It's even more difficult when one hates the others outright. They all believe the same basic things, so why can't they just be friends? The journey through Hogwarts will be much rockier than any of them anticipated.

This story deviates from the original timelines of the Harry Potter series in order to accommodate many of the characters that we know and love (or love to hate)! Lots of characters are brought together within the space of a few years, so their birth years will not be accurate. Also there are some other changes, such as age of attendance to Hogwarts beginning at 15 (and ending at 22) because I didn't want to write about 11 year olds! ;) This story is based off the Harry Potter series and all rights belong to J.K. Rowling. I only own Lyra Black, other original characters and original plot lines.
