Spencer Alvarez hates the ocean, ever since a near death experience when he was young. He always wanted to stay as far away from it as possible, so you can imagine his disappointment when his mother wants to move them out to a tiny seaside town in the middle of the summer. He can't find anything to make him enjoy being there, until he meets a strange boy, who only goes by the name Ren.
