They sprint for the beater, hearts racing, red and blue flashing behind them. Cam throws open the driver's side door and jumps in, Jamie doing the same on the passenger side. The beater fails to start once, twice, three times.
A siren.
An exclamation.
A knock on the window of the beater.
The policeman holds up a can of spray paint. Cam turns to Jamie. "Why did you drop it? You have a record! They have your fingerprints!" Jamie's face falls, horrified at the sheer stupidity of that single action. Cam rolls down the window.
"You two seem to have forgotten something. I'll be taking you both to the station and your parents can get you from there". The two get out of the beater and sulk over into the police car.
The policeman drives them back past the message the pair had sprayed onto the wall of their usual hangout. 'There is deeper meaning to this than you give me credit for…'.
